| Our
History
Our Baptist roots go back to 1653, and our United Reformed roots to
1658. Both strands which make up the current church have a history of moving
as the population moved, and of uniting with others, sharing resources
in a common work for God.
Seven Kings United Free Church was formed in 1982 by the amalgamation
of Seven Kings United Reformed Church and Seven Kings Baptist Church. The
old Baptist premises in Cameron Road were replaced by a sheltered housing
complex, named after the first minister at that site, John Chadwick, and
the URC building in Meads Lane was adapted to modern needs, housing the
new united fellowship.
Our history continues into the present day, as we seek to reach out
into the community with God's love and grace, to extend his kingdom, and
seek his leading day by day, year by year.......

And
now....
We are a lively church, with lots happening
in the week as well as Sundays, but more importantly with our members living
for God wherever they are, whatever they are doing.
We are a loving church, where people of
all ages and backgrounds come together, appreciating one another, being
enriched by each other and learning from each other. We are committed to
supporting one another in practical ways as well as through prayer.
We are a learning church, with a strong
emphasis on hearing God’s word week by week, interpreted and applied in
practical ways, to life here and now. We expect that every Sunday will
bring a real encounter with God, that makes a difference Monday to Saturday.
We are basically a local church, with many
of our regular attenders living within walking distance of the church,
and involved in the local community. Those who do travel a distance share
our vision for what God is doing in Seven Kings, as well as living for
Him wherever they are in the week.
We believe that our mission at the present time is:
"To glorify God, to know Christ,
and by the Holy Spirit to make
Him known,
especially in this District”
We seek to fulfil this mission both by the things
which
we are able to do with our own resources and by challenging, encouraging,
teaching and empowering God’s people to go into the world in Christ's name
and to serve Him within the structures and facilities there.
We look to God to enable us to do this, and to
lead us step by step as we grow and develop in serving Him.
